ILMEA Choir Auditions
About ILMEA
The ILMEA currently offers a district festival experience for high school students in Illinois. This includes general music events, band, chorus, jazz and orchestra ensembles. Students audition to participate in the District 1 Choir (November 2023) and have the opportunity to advance to the All-State Choir (January 2024). This experience is strongly recommended for those pursuing music in any capacity after high school, but those interested in expanding their musical horizons are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity. This is a fantastic inclusion on your resume!
District 1 Choir Audition Process
The audition consists of a performance test totaling 100 points.
ILMEA auditions will be open to all LWE Choir students. With that said, for the CHOIR AUDITION, only 4 audition slots per voice part (soprano 1, soprano 2, alto 1, alto 2, tenor 1, tenor 2, bass 1, bass 2) are available per ILMEA rules. As such, priority will be given to upperclassmen. For the VOCAL JAZZ AUDITION, there is no limit! Anyone can audition.
